Things are definitely getting busy in the chemo@home office! We have welcomed three new nursing staff – Karen, Teresa and Richelle – to the chemo@home team. They are all outstanding nurses, providing the same high-quality care our patients have come to know and love.
Karen undertook her nursing training in the UK, obtaining a Diploma in Cancer Nursing at Manchester University in 2003. Karen has extensive experience in both haematology and oncology treatments. She has worked in private and public hospitals in Australia onwards, day-units and in domiciliary services. Karen has also worked with Leukaemia Foundation providing support services to patients with blood cancers. An avid runner, Karen is well known for keeping her energy levels up with her love of Coca-Cola! Karen is a very welcome addition to the chemo@home team.
Teresa undertook her nursing training in Oregon, USA, obtaining specialist qualifications in the provision of chemotherapy and biotherapies in 2011. Teresa worked for 3 years in a busy oncology unit in Las Vegas before immigrating with her family to Australia in 2012. Since settling in WA, Teresa has worked in private and public hospitals on wards and in day-units. Teresa is a fantastic addition to the chemo@home team, her vivacious personality brightening the day of all who come into contact with her. She is also working hard at sounding more “Australian”.
Richelle undertook her nursing training in Queensland, obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing in 2006 and a Graduate Certificate of Nursing Education in 2014. Richelle has extensive experience having worked in private and public hospitals in Queensland and WA, on wards and in day-units. She is very passionate about providing high quality care to patients and their families and is a wonderful addition to the chemo@home team. Having been involved in humanitarian aid projects in the past, Richelle and her partner are looking forward to establishing a hospital in Liberia, West Africa in 2016.
