Presenting at COSA 2025: Improving Safety Around Denosumab and Intravenous Iron

In November 2025, the View Health – chemo@home team presented at the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) Annual Scientific Meeting in Adelaide.

The poster, Severe hypophosphataemia following denosumab and intravenous iron infusion, shared a real-world case highlighting the risk of significant electrolyte disturbances when denosumab and intravenous iron are administered too closely together. The presentation reinforced the importance of careful scheduling, proactive pathology monitoring, and clear communication across treating teams, particularly as more cancer care is delivered in the home setting.

Importantly, our multidisciplinary clinical team also developed and shared practical guidance for clinicians. A QR code embedded in the poster links directly to our Guidelines for Referrers: Denosumab and Intravenous Iron Infusions. These guidelines outline recommended timing between therapies, preferred iron formulations where urgent treatment is required, baseline and follow-up blood tests, and key considerations for patient safety.

Sharing this work at COSA reflects our ongoing commitment to clinical governance, collaboration with referrers, and translating frontline experience into practical tools that support safe, high-quality cancer care beyond the hospital walls.
