COVID-19 has definitely made people more aware how safe it is to have treatment at home.
The benefits are numerous including the rarely talked about financial benefits for the patient and their family (less travel costs, less parking costs, reduced day care costs for those with children, minimising loss of patient and carer income).
COVID-19 has also made it more difficult for patients to feel supported in the hospital as they can no longer have a carer attend hospital appointments with them. This can leave them feeling alone or overwhelmed by the information given to them. At home, however, they are able to spend one on one quality time with a nurse who educates and supports them and their family in a place they feel safe and comfortable.
