Why is the way I receive my ABATACEPT treatment changing?
It’s been possible for you to receive your ABATACEPT treatments at home thanks to a partnership between Ascott which has employed your nurse, and View Health, which specialises in providing home-based infusion treatments, and has agreements with all major health insurers.
The involvement of View Health has enabled you and many others to continue to be treated at home, rather than having to make repeated visits to hospital, after the pharmacetutical company program ended in 2019.
Because Ascott and View Health have amicably decided to end our partnership, patients will in future be treated by either Nuevo Health (a related company to Ascott) or View Health who employ different nurses.
Why have Ascott and View Health ended their relationship?
At the time the relationship was formed, both Ascott and View Health had complementary businesses where each party contributed something that the other party didn’t have. As the two businesses have continued to evolve, we both believe that the benefits of partnering are more limited and that we can now offer the best service to patients if we operate separately. This was an amicable agreement to separate and we are continuing to work together to ensure the best outcome for every patient.
What determines which provider I can now use to get my treatment?
The choice of who provides your care will depend on which health insurer you are with.
Nuevo Health (a related company to Ascott) has an agreement with Medibank Private and a range of smaller health funds (under the AHSA banner), so if you are a member of these funds you have the choice of continuing your home treatment with either View Health or Nuevo Health (a related company to Ascott).
If you are a member of another health fund then you will continue your treatment with View Health who has agreements with all major health funds (including Medibank Private, Bupa, HCF, HBF, plus a range of smaller health (under the AHSA banner)).
Can I keep my current nurse?
Because your current nurse is not employed by View Health this will only be possible if your treatment is provided by Nuevo Health (a related company to Ascott). This may not be possible, dependent on which health insurer you are with.
Can I keep my current day and time of treatment?
In most situations you will be able to keep your preferred day and time of treatment. If this is not possible, we will work with you to find a suitable day and time for your treatment.
I’ve been able to contact my nurse at any time of the day. Who can I contact if I need to talk to someone between treatments?
You can contact View Health 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 466 324, and follow the phone prompts.
If I switch to another health fund can I continue treatment with my current Ascott nurse?
This may be possible, but it is dependent on a number of factors which are determined by your current health fund, the level of coverage you have and the health fund you are switching to. Please contact us if you wish to do this.
Why can’t View Health assign the same nurse to me as I have now?
Because your current nurse is not employed by View Health it is not possible for View Health to ask the same nurse to deliver your treatment.
View Health has its own nurses which are also highly experienced specialists in delivering in-home infusions.
Will the benefit I get from my health fund for the treatment be impacted?
No, if you remain with your current health fund there’s no change to the benefits you’ll receive for your treatments.
Will the way I receive my treatment change?
Both View Health and Nuevo Health (a related company to Ascott) nurses are specialists in providing in-home infusions and you can be sure that you will receive the very highest quality of care, regardless of your who continues to provide your service.
There may be some minor administrative changes but the way you are administered ABATACEPT won’t change.
The main change if continuing treatment with View Health will be that you are likely to receive your treatment from several different nurses, rather than a single nurse.
When do I need to decide?
Your treatment will continue uninterrupted with a View Health nurse unless you advise us that you wish your care to be transitioned to Neuvo Health (a related company to Ascott). If you would like to continue your treatment with your current nurse please advise us as soon as possible, as it may take some time to transition your care across to Nuevo Health (a related company to Ascott).
